Sunday we were blessed by a visit from Wilson Baria and his wife. Wilson leads a group of church-planting-churches in India. (name anyone?) The number of churches they have planted is amazing considering the climate. Christians are a tiny minority in India. Most of the population is Hindu, with a growing number of Muslims. In some areas the gospel is not allowed to be spoken. They have several ministries that reach community needs where the gospel could not otherwise go. Such as a school for handicapped children (who are considered a cures from Hindu gods by their parents) and a school that teaches slum children to read and write. It was amazing to hear what God is doing over there.
At the end of his message, Wilson asked for our prayers. When I met him, he asked for my name so he would remember to pray for me! I told him I would put him on our prayer blog.

So please pray for our brothers and sisters in India. Pray that God would give the leaders strength, wisdom and protection from persecution. Pray for the 200 some churches, that would shine a bright light into many dark lives. Pray that doors seemingly closed would open. Pray for the churches they hope to plant, the school ministries adn the medical ministries.

Meg James--that she would have strength to endure chemo and side effects; that her white blood counts would go up (her white blood cells are practically non-existent, meaning her immune system is deficient) and that her kids would stay healthy.

I discovered this on Lana's blog a few days ago and found it very encouraging. Let us never lose sight of what a privilege prayer is. "The curtain has been torn in two"--we can approach the throne of grace boldly, clothed in the righteousness of Christ.

"We are used to read in the Bible of one Intercessor, and of one advocacy. But the believer has two courts with which prayer has to do. In the court below, where prayer is offered, the Spirit is his Intercessor. In the court above, where prayer is presented, Jesus is his Intercessor. Then, what an honored, what a privileged man, is the praying man! On earth—the lower court—he has a Counselor instructing him for what he should pray, and how he should order his suit. In heaven—the higher court—he has an Advocate presenting to God each petition as it ascends, separating from it all that is ignorant, sinful, and weak, and pleading for its gracious acceptance, and asking for its full bestowment. Here, then, is our vast encouragement in prayer. The inditings of the Spirit—the Intercessor of earth—are always in agreement with the mind of God. In prayer we need just such a Divine counselor. Is it temporal blessing that we crave? We need to be taught how to graduate our request to our necessity, and how to shape our necessity to our heavenly calling. Supplication for temporal good is, we think, limited. And this is the limit, "Having food and clothing, let us be therewith content." What child of God is warranted in asking worldly wealth, or distinction, or rank? And what child of God, in a healthy state of soul, would ask them? "But," says the apostle, "my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Should God, in His providence, send either of these temporal things undesired, unasked, and unexpected, receive it as from Him, and use it as to Him. But with regard to spiritual blessings, our grant is illimitable, our requests may be boundless. "Ask what you will," is the broad, unrestricted warrant. When we ask to be perfected in the love of God, we ask for that which is in accordance with the will of God—for "God is love." When we ask for an increase of faith, we ask for that which is in accordance with the will of God; for "without faith it is impossible to please him." When we ask for more divine conformity, we ask for that which is in harmony with God's will; for He has said, "Be you holy, for I am holy." And when we ask for comfort, we plead for that which it is in His heart to give—for He is the "God of all comfort." Oh, to possess a Divine counselor, dwelling in our hearts, who will never indite a wrong prayer, nor suggest a weak argument, nor mislead us in any one particular, in the solemn, the important, the holy engagement of prayer; who is acquainted with the purpose of God; who knows the mind of God; who understands the will of God; who reads the heart of God; yes, who is God Himself. What encouragement is this to more real prayer! Are you moved to pray? While you muse, does the fire burn? Is your heart stirred up to ask of God some especial blessing for yourself, or for others? Are you afflicted? Oh, then, rise and pray—the Spirit prompts you—the Savior invites you—your heavenly Father waits to answer you. With such an Intercessor in the court on earth—so divine, so loving, and so sympathizing—and with such an Intercessor in the court in heaven—so powerful, so eloquent, and so successful, "let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

I'm sure most of you heard this already, but just in case...
Sunday night around 7pm, Heather's brother Chris awoke from his coma. They were able to remove the pins from his head! He was even able to talk. Praise God for His mercy... thought ya'll would be encouraged by that. How amazing to think God was working even as we were praying, eh? Let's remember to continue to pray for his full recovery--but most importantly for a recovery of his soul.

It Is Well With My Soul

Hey everyone,
God has just been laying on my heart the lesson that the great song writer, Horatio Spafford, penned in the 1800s. It is well with my soul. Even though trial and hardship come our way, can you say in that moment, even so it is well with my soul? Paul knew what it was like to suffer hardship and trial, but he tells us that he considers these light and momentary affliction as nothing compared to the surpassing worth of the Gospel. Hebrews 11:24-26 tells us about the faith and trust that Moses had in God and how he counted the reproach of Christ to be worth more than the treasures of Egypt. I would encourage you to spend time in Romans 8 (esp. verse 18).

As I try to recall from memory all the prayers that were offered up, I realize that it was a terrible night to forget to bring a pen to jot down the names and things that were offered up to God in supplication. So I will give up the general topics and a couple of scriptures that were read... and if you all remember something that was read or said or prayed over that I haven't included, that is something that needs to be shared, feel free to add it in.

That we realize that Heaven is our home and that death isn't as bad because of our Hope.

Here is the updated list for prayer. Keep in mind all of the things that we prayed for last week as well.

Damaris' Mom- for strength and wisdom
The People in our spheres of influence
That we will be actively witnessing to them
That we will count all as rubbish in light of the cross
Thanks for the Blood of the Lamb because we are now victorious over sin
That we will have a balence of conviction and grace
That will will make our choices according to Jesus' work on the Cross
That jobs will be provided for people in our church

Diving Deeper into God's Word

Well, Last night marked our first meeting and i wanted to sumarize a little of what we prayed about and what was shared so that hopefully you will continue to pray for these things during the week.

The Cooks: for a home, to be included into our family, thanks to God for their arrival

Standing in the Presence

Well this is the start of something great or terrible. I am not sure which, but my only aim is to glorify my Lord and Savior. This Suday marks the first day of our Prayer Meeting, and i hope that i will be able to keep updates, prayer requests, pictures, and notices on here to hopefully encourage everyone in preparing their hearts for Sunday morning, night, and wednesday evening. I hope you will join me in making our Lord the focus of our daily life not just at those times, but every day, every hour, every moment. Join me in standing in the presence of God every second of our lives.
